Turboxs uppipe install

Well 5 1/2 very dirty, aggravating hours from 12:30 last night until 6:00 this morning to put it on but I learned a lot. It went alright except for some bolts not wanting to break free. I ran into trouble when I tried to remove the factory uppipe with all the heat sheilds and all so I went back to the forums and sniffed around some more. I highly recomend a lift (which I did not have) and taking the nut off the engine mount on the pass side so you can jack up the engine and get the pipe out. Also don't forget to remove the downpipe as well or you'll be at it all night. Also have a friend with you because it can suck to do it all by yourself I could've used another set of hands under there and when you remove or replace the uppipe just undo the clip that connects the O2 sensor and take it out of the pipe when you get it out of the car. When I pulled it out of the garage I went up the street I could tell a louder whistle and early spool up of the turbo, haven't gotten a CEL yet but I'll let you know.

Will a car pass emissions with an aftermarket uppipe? Are the remaining cats enough?

Should

I shouldn't have any problems because in WA we only test every five years and there is not visual or sniff test I just can't throw a check engine light. I also just keep my car here I'm stationed in at Camp lejeune in NC but I'm moving back here next year. In NC we don't even have emissions so you should be fine.

I know we don't do emissions right now, but they are trying to pass it right now. I have heard that the sti does not have the up pipe cat, can our cars get away with it, even with the sniffer?

I don't think a catless uppipe will make you fail emissions (even the sniff test). As long as you keep the other two you should be able to pass all of the tests.
