turboback vs catback

Hey newbie here, just picked her up couple days ago and im lookin towards gettin an exhaust pretty soon. I was debating on turboback or catback, is there any big differences between them..sound/performance/parts included. does the catback just not have the uppipe, or am i wrong? any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance. - Justin

Amazingly enough, these two words are synonymous with their point of connection. A Cat back, starts from the last cat and works it's way back. Just as the Turbo Back exhaust starts from the Exhaust side of the Turbo and works its way back. The uppipe is before the Turbo, so there is no uppipe work done on either of these exhausts. There is quite a bit of difference between the two exhausts, anywhere from 20-30 awhp to be exact. The stock muffler is not all that much of a restriction, maybe 5 hp max. The Catalytic Converters on the other hand.....

thanks alot for the information, especially the diagram. One other thing, with the turbo back being back to the turbo, this means ill have no cats, correct? And with no cats that would probably mean the exhaust is pretty loud, also illegal?

No there will be a cat in the uppipe unless you replace it. Technically tampering w/ any working cat is illegal but it all depends on what you state/city/county emissions are. And the loudness depends on which muffler.

And you can also get complete turboback systems that come with high flow cats so if where you live has emissions, you can still pass without too much concern.
