I was wondering what is better Turbo Back or Cat Back. I understand the differences but don't know which one offers better performance. Also i'm not real familar with APS, are they a good brand with quality products? Thanks for your help.
A turbo back is a catback with a downpipe, so a turbo back is better for performance, or just buy a catback and then a downpipe, or a downpipe and then a catback !Thumbs Up
APS is a manufacturer that makes very high quality products. They are a little on the expensive side but it is well worth it when you see the item in person. Their Engineering team definitely takes into consideration details that other companies usually forget about.
Anyway a cat-back alone won't really give you much performance benefits. It's mostly for sound and grumble. The stock WRX muffler is actually not that restrictive from what I hear. A downpipe with the cat-back is the turbo-back (as you probably already know) and that will really open it up. The throttle will feel a lot "lighter", the engine will rev a lot faster and you will hear the turbo very clearly. Note that it will make your car significantly louder.
