You're fine. And you're not tuned for it.

The 2.0 L (02-05 WRX) engine is more likely to accept an aftermarket downpipe on the factory tune than the 2.5 L (06+ WRX) engine. I think the 2.5 is more likely to overboost because of the extra displacement and torque, so engine management is almost necessary to keep the CEL from coming on in that case. Either way, it's just a good idea to get some kind of tune to safely maximize the power. Did you at least reset your ecu after you installed it (by unplugging the battery for a couple minutes)?

^+04 WRX and +05 STI require tuning for downpipes. It's not 2.0L vs 2.5L.

02 works great with a bellmouth downpipe on the stock map. It's pig rich anyway so works well. Also gives you an extra PSI or so up top and some meaningful power increase. Tune will help even more though.

Oh thanks, I didn't know that. Out of curiosity, why is that? Does it have something to do with the factory tune?

It has to do with the ECU's corrections and that it's super rich from the factory in the first place.
