Did you just dump the clutch, or slip it? If you just dumped it, you might have put too much of a load on that stock tranny....That could explain the clunk.....If you want to launch at that high of RPM's, try slipping the clutch a little, this way you don't put a shock load on the tranny and risk loosing a gear.... Anyone else care to elaborate????

That is just driveline backlash....normal. If you get the harder STi tranny and engine mounts it all but goes away under hard shifting/clutch engagement. Actually the tranny mount alone takes away most of the "clunk"
i was at the track and i reved p to like 5000 rpm and when i let the clutch go i felt something knock underneath which i would assume is the locking differential. is this bad for my trans... or my engine? or both? i hope someone has the answer to this one. bye the way i had a 14.8. do you think thats good stock? how do you start on first gear cause that seems to be my only problem?
