Tranny question

Sad to say I will be selling my banshee soon to buy some drivetrain upgrades. I just have more fun with my car.
Gruppe-s sells a "fully built V6 RA gearset tranny for $2295 +500 core charge. Would it be worth buying instead of getting the RA gearset and having a garage rebuild it? I also want to get a new clutch and flywheel, but I'm not sure which one will be the best for everyday driving. I was looking at the Exedy Hyper single disc. Is that a good clutch? I plan on upgrading to either a 16g or a VF22 next year, so I want to make sure my clutch will handle that kind of power. Thanks for your help guys.

I don't think you'll need an upgraded gearset with the VF22 unless you like dumping your clutch or driving your car to its limits. Ofcourse you have the potential to trash your tranny but if you're smart with it you should be ok.

I haven't heard anything in particular with that Exedy clutch disc but I know that Exedy makes quality products.

I do tend to drive a little on the crazy side, thats why I want to upgrade my drivetrain, so it will take the abuse.

I would recommend having someone that does a lot of subaru specific trannies do your gear set for you. The money you save on having a "garage" put a gear set together will cost a ton more after it breaks.

Gruppe-S is trustworthy, that's one company i would let do mine. Is that the SE RA set, that keeps the stock 4-5 gear for freeway driving?

are you sugesting a shop to do the gearbag install? or to pick which gears he should use all together.

replacing a gearbag isent rocket scient. it might take you a day to do your first one, but it will be a good learning experience.

no, i'm talking about assembling the actual new gears, not just a gear box that's already assembled.

the transmission is the case. the grar bag is the actuall gears syncros and dog rings. is your gar box and my gear bag the same thing?
