if you can take some pics i bet I could help you. I had some trouble with the SS autochrome. It sits up ALOT higher and MUCH farther back than the stocker. KEep this in mind. The hoses that came with my ss autochrome worked fine BUT me being the moron iam...i cut it trying to match it to the stock hose (good idea right?). Well the hose perpendicular to the turbo needs to be loonngggg. Newho I made the stock brackets fit as well with the use of washers.

The problem is that the IC did not come with a hose. I ended up getting the Samco hose set. Do they sell larger/longer hoses for larger TMIC?

You could buy one from ss autochrome, paint it silver and stencil process west on it, that way maybe it'll make you look like you spent $800+ on it. Other than that, why spend the money when you can buy a great quality tmic for a 1/4 of the price? Just my opinion.

Because some people enjoy paying for name brands.... I guess we should be thankful. If there werent people who payed top dollar for something, then the less pricey guys would be able to charge a little more. Keep buying expensive stuff!

Or else it's because the name brands don't have crappie fitment issues or becuase they work with regular hose kits and don't rub the AC lines and wear through the soft alumn There is also different grads of cores.. I would honestly LOVE to see someone to a dyno run to show the difference.. A TurboXS vs a SS Autochrome, they are suposed to be the same from what I have heard.. Do a run and tune on both on the same car so see which the tuner can get a fatter, smoother, stronger curve out of..

+1 for what soaf said. In my case it was all a matter of money i HAD. I saw no reason to spend more than my 200, or else id throw down the extra and just go front mount.

i agree with you shoaf but i will say you get more than a $200 tmic when you pick up the ebay brand. not the same quality as a $800 one but i doubt anyone buying an ebay one thinks they will get that quality. is it a vast improvement over the stock tmic..yes. is it worth $800 no.

To be fair to the "name brands"... I've seen a number of ebay tmics, and compared to the aps, the fin density sucks. Sure they work, and sure they may give you a hp or two, but DANG the aps one looked nice, much nicer than any ebay I've seen. But of course that's expected, as they are 3 or 4 times more expensive. However, that price gap isn't there for nothing.

Shoaf has a point, although it doesn't lie in the fitment issues. The ssautochrome tmic fit fine. I bent my ac line a bit and had like an inch of clearance. On top of that, both mounting points bolted right up. I could install and uninstall my ebay tmic faster than my stock one. However, he's probably right about the performance gap. I'm willing to bet you could find a significant difference in cooling if you were to perform tests under controlled conditions. If I had the cash I'd get rid of my ebay tmic for a name brand, any day.

Somone should buy the SSautochrome, pay for a dyno tune, sell it, purchase an expensive one, install it, dyno again....Any takers?!?!?!

EDIT: even after several hard pulls my ssautochrome doesnt feel hot...guess it does the job.
