tbe and uppipe install

Hey guys...
I just want a little feedback...
I was thinking of installing my tbe and uppipe by myself here in my garage...
To save on install cost...
I've read on some forums that some people could actually do it by themselves in just one night... It was like a straight forward install..
Now my question goes, is the install really that straighforward and people with some know how can handle it??
Or is paying for the install a really better alternative??
Thanks guys!

It depends. I have installed several uppipes. If you have a lift, it's very easy. If not, figure about 4 hours minimum. You need 12 and 14 mm sockets (preferably with a long extension) and an O2 sensor socket. You will also need copious amounts of WD40 or Liquid Wench.

I have put a couple of up pipes on and the only thing i can tell you is take your time and use new gaskets. the last thing you want is to put it all together and find a exhaust leak.
If your not confident with your work, I suggest taking it to a shop that has put many up pipes on.GOOD LUCK!!!

I just installed a perrin uppipe. It took me about 6 hours and I have minimal experience and no lift. My car is still somewhat apart as I am waiting to get a downpipe to install while my car is up on blocks.

The uppipe came with a resistor to put in the egt sensor plug. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to keep it in place? Also, I removed a "lower turbo heat shield" which bolted to the stock uppipe. Is it okay to not reinstall this since there is nothing to bolt it to?

Finally, what is the best catted downpipe? I want to run a single high flow cat in the least restrictive location. (I don't actually want the cat, but I do want to pass emissions)

Thanks
Mark

A lot of people use a dab of silicone to keep the resistor in place.

As for the catted downpipe, I don't have any experience with them, so I can't help.
