Lightbulb Stupid ?'s from a new WRX owner

I see just about everyone has a cold air induction system, but my '03 WRX has the mass air sensor built into the top of the factory air cleaner box ...'s up w/ that? Do any of the induction kits come with MAF sensors?..it doesn't llok like it by the cost of them. Anyone else have an '03?

Also, as far as BOV's go...if everyone wants to hear the boost dump why don't they/we just unplug the factory hose leading back into the turbo, and plug the hose? This would let the IC vent freely under the hood and you'd be able to hear it dump -right?

Help me out here - this car is fun ....but I want it to be scary! Tx

PJC,
my cold air is AEM. you just plug the MAF into the top of it. i haven't looked at too many others, but i'd assume they all take the MAF into account.

Speed limits don't apply to AWD.

You don't really want to put a CAI in the Rex anyway. It really doesn't do much for performance. I've read plenty of threads on here that people say it just didn't give them anything and the stock air box or silencer mod are even better and free.

Best Intake On A Budget???

Thanks for the feedback guys...I just dropped in a K&N for now and after I get the boost gauge in I'll start on some more mods.

did you notice any difference at all from only the K&N drop-in? Ive read that the stock filter is good already.

I have never felt (using the butt- dyno) a performance gain from dropping in a K&N filter but have been using them since the early '80s on every car/truck/boat I own. You can always hear the difference but with turbo cars the only gain I expect (for a stock motor) is a little less lag. Of course the turbo in the WRX is so small that there's just about no lag anyway unless your in low rpm range. It take 5-10HP before I can feel a difference on my dyno-ass.
