Hello All,
I have a 2002 WRX that had a squeaky belt and the power steering would jitter when cold. I checked it out and the belt was half shredded in places. So I got a replacement, replaced it, tightened everything back up, but the bolt hole that tightens the alternator is stripped. I pulled the alternator off and you can run the bolt through it back and forth with relative ease.
My question is, should I just replace the alternator? Any idea how much they cost? Would I be able to retap a hole and get a bigger bolt? I'm guessing throwing a nut on the other end of it is out of the question, right?
Thank you in advance!
