stock intake reinstall help

ok im going cobb stage 2 and i need to put my stock intake back in. I tried doing a search but its kind of hard finding what im trying to do. I want to put my stock intake in without that snorkel/silencer thing. The only problem is and im sure you all know that there is a hole at the bottom of the airbox where the silencer would go. My question is that is it ok for that to be open like that? What should i do about it if its not ok to be open like that...?

you could duct tape over it but that is how the air gets in the box. Leave it open.

oh yeah the actually does make sense about how the air gets in... lol

Just to make sure...this is completely safe for my car and wont hurt performance? What is the point of the silencer delete if all i have to do is this?

You can leave the hole open. It'll be fine. Just remove the black scoop thing and the silencer.

beautiful news.... yeah all that stuff is already removed because i have an aem cai in. I know, i know...it was my first mod and i spent the money on it so it stayed in. Now its going to b/c im going stage 2 so i guess its ok to have that open. Thanks...i still dont get the point of the silencer delete then (warranty maybe?)

Or you could also get this intake elbow by gpmoto which allows you to use that black scoop without the silencer

yeah but that is my exact question... do i really need that piece? I dont want to use the intake silencer and i want my intake to end at the stock box and everyone so far has told me that is ok to do. Thats why im asking if i need to buy something like that.... if its not needed why would i spend the $40? Why would i want to use the black scoop if its not needed?

Technically colder air. Would you rather air going into your engine from the engine bay? or right outside of the car? Either way though, in reality, you probably won't notice a difference. I got it to make every look right and the point I just made.

well im getting my cobb accessport in a couple days and i want to do what is best for that mod, you know? Im thinking i might just completely reinstall the intake, but i guess there is no point if i can keep the snorkel and air duct out, plus it sounds a lot better even though i probably wont be able to hear much of a difference anyways with my buschur exhaust. Its just a pain in my ass to try and get that snorkel back in
