The pistons are a nice upgrade for strength but not nesessary.. Ultimate-Racing and more Directly, Darryl has done several STI short blocks with WRX heads and no work was needed to the STI Short blocks.. The heads were bolted on and ran.. NO ISSUES... I am currently waiting the parts to bolt mine together..

My WRX heads just have been bolted up with the 2.5L block yesterday.. engine goes into the car today with new FMIC and hopefully will be ecutek tuned tomorrow..

I have my 16G, sti pink injectors, and walbro pump from my previous setup.. Installed an ACT street clutch while we had it open.

Should be fun

How do the 2.5s go when mated to the shorter 2.0 wrxs gearing, when i was building my engine i was going to use a 2.5 crank but noticed the redline on the 2.5s is much lower than my ej207s redline at 7800rpm and felt i would lose too much top end speed, my friend is now considering a similar stroker engine to what i was going to make.ie 2.0 block with same bore size and 2.5 crank with 2mm shorter conrods and stock STI pistons, this makes a 2.173cc engine but has much better lowdown torque due to greater conrod angularity. his gearing is the high Aussie 3.85:1 diff so he shouldnt lose too much topspeed. has anyone done this "hybrid" (other than some of the tuning shops who make strokers)
