STi buldup, help please!

Does anybody know how much power the stock 2.5l internals can handle? (well tuned of course) I know the transmissions are a weak driveline link, etc, all that aside. I'm new to the subie world (I'm a DSMer to be honest) so there's alot of unknowns to me still. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What kind of STi are you trying to build? more handling and track? or more highway and drag strip? The STi transmission can handle just about anything you can throw at it.

A well rounded car is always nice, though it'll probably turn out more as a highway/drag car than anything else. I'm glad to know the STi tranny is more stout than I'd thought. I definetely have plans to build the motor, but wasn't sure if anyone coud give a ballpark power figure where the usdm hyperutectic pistons or any other parts would flip me the bird!

I have heard a good rule of thumb is 150% of the stock HP is what the stock internals can handle. Of course, that is not a magic number where if you cross over it your car will instantly explode. But, I think it is a good guideline.

Of course, I'm talking crank HP, not wheel HP.

Has anyone used (or know someone who has used) the new Slowboy Gt-11? They have one for the subie now, Garett balistic ball-bearing CHRA, Gt 40 seried wheels, they rock on the DSMs, I'd assume they'd be a nice snail for tha 2.5's.

SBR WRX turbo

To be precise, we have only have 5-6 units on the streets right now. So, you will not find many people with this turbo We have been awaiting the new "cast" turbine housings for about 8 months right now... and they are FINALLY HERE...

We will have about 30 units consisting of GT10, 11, and 12's made up here within the next two weeks... all Garrett Ballistic dual BB GT30 series CHRA's...

There's some people out there making some really good power with the FP Green on the 2.5ltr. You haven't really stated a HP goal, but over 400whp is being done.

If I were allowed, I would post them... but was asked about a year ago to remove maps from my website. Send private email and let me know what map you are interested in..

why were you asked to remove compressor maps?

that is one of the most important things i use to spec a turbo.....

otherwise, you are basically going on someones word about the turbo.....

something dont sound right if you were told to not show them. every turbo manufacturer i have dealt with is more then happy to have them shown.

Please call Garrett NA and let them know your dis-pleasure.

I was told in Dec. of 03 to take down the maps, and was also asked at the SEMA show to do the same ( Nov 03 )...

So, I do not post them on my public website, just like they asked. Like I said, If you want a map send me an email, is that hard?

no, its not that hard. i would be interested in the one you are talking about in this thread

wickedautoworks@swva.net

thank you sir.

*edit*...those look like they use the IHI exhaust housing, and have a GT30 compressor wheel/housing, correct? what kind of turbine wheel do they have?

i am seeing what the spool and flow rates of it is. looks to be a decent turbo. had any issues with cracking the housings? i have heard of Garret having issues with that lately. just seeing if you have run into that too.
