Snorkus Question

i have removed the stock snorkus and love that sound that my engine now produces. i was wondering, if i were to place on a replacment elbow to get the benefit of the stock cai would i lose of the open airbox ? i love hearing the turbo spool up and blow off and i love the deep growl that the engine makes but its probably not as efficent as it would be with the elbow on. if anyone has done this let me know. im thinking of modding the stock snorkus to make it into and elbow instead of buying the $55 elbow from perrin. thanks

Just mod the stock snorkus or you can do the velocity stack mod for $15

Do a search on intake silencer delete. Here's a few links to get you started.

Elbow=quiet. Volicity stack=less quiet. C.A.I.=worthless under 350hp but louder. Good luck.

All right, where is the distributor cap? I need to find the #1 plug wire to hook up my SUN machine.

So I live in Oregon. 04wrx can vouch for me. It rains A LOT in the great northwest. How much of a risk is it to have just the velocity stack?

The velocity stack, if I recall (Dumdum is running one) is just put in the SRI part of it and has no effect with the rain unless you happen to be running with your hood off.

Unless you drive in a puddle that is as high as the airbox sits then you will have no problem. And if you do,you have more to worry about than getting water in the airbox.
