I vote kartboy, and it took me 10 minutes to install.

Does any of these (or any other) lower the shift lever a bit?

I have the Kartboy. I bought the package with the shifter, the knob, and also the bushings. It sells for around 150. I think it is the best deal out there. It is fairly easy to install as well. I strongly suggest getting the bushings as they made the most difference in shifter feel.

I have the B&M short throw with Kartboy bushings. I highly recommend the B&M shifter it makes shifting feel more precise and alot tighter. The overall hight is not alot different but the throw is really short and the gears feel alot closer together, like you might miss 3rd and hit 5th at first but you get used to it. A really nice piece.

I have the STi short throw, and have had the perrin. STi short throw feels better in every way. It costs a lot more, but it replaces a helluva lot more, and you know that they do it for a reason. My $.02

I have the Agency Power short throw shifter and bushings, shorter throw as well as shorter height than any others I have installed, aluminum construction as well! cost for shifter and bushings, around 115 bones! Vivid racing has them in stock ready to ship.

i have the factory STi short shifter on my wagon. from what others tell me, it's a h3ll of alot better than stock. i also installed the kartboy bushings. this cleaned up some of the f/r slop, but there is still some side play. TIC is working on bushings to fix the side play, and they have them out for the STi 6mt.

btw, "Agency Power" is Vivids rip-off of hte Kartboy design. if you want the agency short shifter, get it on ebay (from vivid) for alot less that buying directly from vivid
