scoop baking plate

i read that removing your scoop backing plate will increase airflow and will suck cooler air from outside your engine compartment instead of inside it. are they talking about the ram air backing plate that makes a fit between the scoop and the intercooler? and if so, is this a mod that you would recommend?

if you have a top mount intercooler it will work most efficiently with the factory air tight seal around the edge so that all the air caught by the scoop has no where to go except through the intercooler, ensuring the maximum volume of air is available to remove heat from the cooler. if it is the mod they are talking about they are going against the laws of physics.

Hehe, I looked at the title of the thread... and I thought..."Baking" plate?

Maybe someone made a cool mod where you can bake some food (hotdogs/burgers) or something on your intercooler when it gets really hot...

I always thought there should be something coming down from the scoop that connects to the intercooler. Like walls, so, every bit of air coming through the scoop has no where to go except the intercooler.
