I am not new to this whole car mod thing but am still learning quite a bit about the whole WRX thing. What is the knocklink supposed to do?

Correct me if I am wrong but It detects knock in the engine by vibration and light up on the LED display so that you have a warning before detonation actually occurs. Thank you.

Do it doesnt prevent detonation, it just tells you when it is going to happen?

Right, it just tells you when you have it happening. That way you can let off the gas before it gets too bad. Then you can re-adjust your timing or A/F ratio to stop it.

Samco Hoses

Are the samco hoses really worth it? I think that the intercooler hose and turbo hose might be worth it but has anyone bought a set and installed it yet? Do they really help?

In terms of $ per horsepower, it's about as cost-effective as the other common WRX mods
Supposely it's worth 5 or 6 hp by improving flow into the intercooler...
IIRC the samco hoses lean out the afr enough that TurboXS has a separate stage II map for it (can't remember if this info is from I-club or talking to the peeps at TXS directly).

I'm planning to do this at the same time I install my knocklink since I gotta take off the intercooler to attach the sensor anyway.
