rattling from the engine

I would appreciate any advises on this, i am geting a rattling sound from my engine when i start in the mornings and also when the car is reved above 3000 rpm.
My mechanic says its my connecting rod got stretched not sure wht it is.
However, my vacumm pressure is reading between 19-20 @ idle.So would appreciate any input on this. Also the CEL is off right now building my engine is kinda pretty expensive at this point in time but guess i dont have much of a choice.
thanks

Do you have an aftermarket downpipe? If you do it might be rubbing on the brace down by the bottom of your downpipe. One other thing to check is if your brackets that support the turbo are still tight. Recently had an annoying rattle and went to check up pipe and there was a bracket stuck inbetween engine and up pipe. Those are just a few things off the top of my head that you could check with out thinking rebuild right away.

The brackets though would be the perfect problem then if you just did turbo swap. It took mine a few hundred miles before it happened. Anyway hope you find the problem soon. Keep me posted.

Did you put on an aftermarket heatshield ? I had an issue with my COBB one. start it up and use yur hand to see if you can pinpoint it. Took me 2 weeks to find out what my rattle was.

Let me know what you find out. I've been searching the car for the source of this rattle sound after swapping in the VF34 and haven't been able to find it.

It's just like when your noise is occuring, anything over 3k and at start up

i have the same noise coming from my car as well. its a little chatter that comes almost exactly at 3000 rpm and somewhat tapers of as the rpms climb. i will be checking my turbo brackets tomorrow morning to see if that was the case. but i really want to figure out what the heck this thing is!

this is kinda an off the wall idea.
I had a rattle for a while. turned out it was the cat-back bouncing off the rear-diff. weird part since it was echoing off the whole exhaust it sounded like it was coming from the front. wouldn't hurt to check that out.

alright so i was checking out just about every thing in my engine bay today and i figured it out. i dont want to misinform anyone, and perhaps my problem was different than the problems that others in this thread have been experiencing, but my issue was that my transmission fluid dipstick was just barely pulled out enough to rattle. i couldnt believe that this was the cause but it makes sense. i made sure that it was pushed in all the way and the rattle is gone. check yours out, maybe thats whats rattling in your car too.

Thats funny ### my car is doing the same thing exactly. If I keep it steady at 3000rpm it rattles but if I hit the gas when the rpms go up the rattle goes away.
