proven exhaust system vs. magna-flow

All the turbo-back systems ive seen on the web run at least $1000. I went to an exhaust shop, they quoted me a magna-flow turbo-back system 3" piping and a 4' muffler for $650 with install. Will I not gain as much hp by going for the cheaper system? Will I have problems with the down pipe?

how are they going to make a flange to bolt
up to turbo? thats the biggest problem with your excisting
exhaust is poor design with stock flange. if they resuse flange
and weld to it that defeats the purpose of doing a turbo back

woohoosbru,
I'm on a serious budget so what I've decided to do is create my own exhaust also. Here is the break down of what I plan on doing:
1. APS High Flow Turbo Exhaust Discharge $115 (this takes care of the downpipe flange concern)
2. MagnaFlow XLTurbo Muffler $54
3. High-Flow Catalytic Converter $90
4. Custom Mandrel bent 3" pipe (local shop parts & labor) $150
5. gutting my uppipe (for now) free

Total for the Turbo-back - $409 (shipping & taxes not included)
Uppipe - free

I went to my local shop today just to get a quote and for the exact same muffler and hi flow cat he was charging $78 and $149 respectively. So it cheaper to buy them on the internet and just have him mandrel bend the pipe and install.

I'm am willing to bet my WRX that this exhaust that I'm going to do will be no more than 5 HP different than a $1000 name brand exhaust.

Use it or lose it!
