pretty disappointed

I have a stock 04 wrx. nothing done to the performance end of it (waiting for my vacation check to order some parts). I was coming home from work yesterday on a highway and this guy in a Acura TL type S (brand new, don't know if any work was done) was keeping up to me around 100mph. Then we hit a straight section and he took off on me pretty good. I was so pissed off! I know wrx's aren't the best high speed performers, but I didn't think a TL would do that. Maybe I'm not a great driver, but then again, how hard is it to floor the gas on a highway? Anyway, I'll be ordering a catless tbe and maybe an ecu soon, so I hope to see this guy again.

Well, those cars are 270 hp, and 2WD. They are probably putting 230 or so HP to the wheels, whereas your car is putting about 160 to the wheels. They are about 400 pounds heavier, though.

Don't get dissapointed, just step your game up. Change your swag up. When you get the turbo back exhaust, the car will start to show what it can do. Then he probably won't be able to keep up with you. And it wasn't like you were racing him off the line from a stop. You were running from 100. Just give him a congrats, and next time you see him and you got your exhaust on, give it to him.

For people who don't want to go nuts on performance, the stage two is a great option. You'll be running about 280hp to the crank, and it'll feel just great. 1/4 mile in the mid 13s if you drive it well.

So you have an idea before...

Quarter mile times

This link will give you a rough idea of who to go for next time.

But who knows, maybe that Type S had cams or JetChip. Most stock WRXs dont have very high trap speed, there advantage is in the take off. He knew as well as me he had you at the top end.

2004 Subaru Forester 2.5XT 5.3 13.80

I'd eat my hat to see how a 210hp sport ute can beat a stock wrx quarter mile time by more than a half second. That site has some bad numbers

Gearing is a lot of the difference. From what I remember the Forester is geared a lot lower than the WRX, which helps on the track.

I've heard from a few sources that the FXT will outrun a WRX in 0-60, but I am not sure about the 1/4.

your disappointed? I went up against a Chevy Duramax, didnt know we were gonna race but I needed to get infront of him cause of slow traffic in my lane. We take off from a stop light, I start to speed up in 2nd, and notice he is still next to me, so I floor it, and he is still next to me. we get up to about 110 and he finally either backs off or hits a limiter. it was chipped and had exhaust but still, I was surpirsed.

I know but it was still unexpected. If I would have known I would have launched and I might have been better off.

I forget what speed it was, but I raced a Jetta with some work done from a rolling start on the highway. It was a weird speed that was too high to start in 3th but not in the peak powerband for 4th plus I didnt have the boost built up, and he won just because of that. That might have been your problem.
