Perrin vs. TXS Uppipe

I was wondering which uppipe do you guys think is more resistant to leaks. I was going to get the Perrin for 250 w/ gaskets because no EGT bung and the CEL fix comes w/ it, but I just saw a TXS uppipe for 150 and I don't know which I am going to get. Anybody care to throw in two pennies?

Honestly.... they are both a piece of metal shaped exactly the same way, and each will have gaskets between the pipe..... Cast Iron or Steel, I don't think it matters all that much. What truly matters is the new gaskets and a good installation.

Spend $100 less and buy an ice-cream cone.

For installation of a Perrin uppipe, do you need to buy new gaskets on both ends, or just one? And do you still use the old gaskets as well? If you only need one, which is it? Thanks

ALWAYS buy new gaskets for any type of work which will require taking something off of a gasket. If nothing else, it's peace of mind.

To answer your question, you need two gaskets.

I agree with Blue. They're basically the same. I actually just finished installing my Perrin up-pipe last night. Took me so long because I was working by myself and it was only the 2nd mod that I've done alone.

Anyway I picked the Perrin over the TurboXS because I liked how it was polished and I didn't like how the TurboXS one was cast iron. Plus I have a bunch of other Perrin products on my car. If you really have no preference save some $$ and go with the TurboXS I say.

IBAUCLAPla, when you get the Perrin will you be installing it yourself? If so PM me, I might be able to tell you some tips to prevent you from doing some of the time costing idiot moves I did haha.

SloRice will be helping me (actually doing it himself lol because I'm dumb) and he already did a Perrin on his old WRX. What tips do you have? Thanks for offering your help tho.

Haha well I'm sure you'll be there while he's installing the pipe. It's always nice to have an extra hand to either secure a nut/bolt or something of the sort. My main tip is make sure you have a block of wood when you lift the motor to get that up-pipe out. I actually had to run to a local Home Depot and had a thick piece of wood about a foot long cut off for me lol. Only spent 50 cents on it too. Also definitely take the advice of using Liquid Wrench or WD-40. It helps a lot! I guess those're my main tips.

I know they seem very elementary but then again I'm a novice modder. Hope it helps and good luck!

Would you guys recommend ordering two sets of gaskets for the uppipe? I have heard its a good idea to have an extra set of gaskets in case teh fit isn't snug and to protect against leaks.
