Most of those heatshields are just barbie for guys. Mostly dress up without a ton of function. The cobb and grimmspeed are nothing more than bling but th eperrin has a few bends over the top that should help you keep heat down.
Just as some added protection I would look into some thermal managment foil. DEI makes a nice adhesive backed product thats good for heat up to 2000 degrees, Reflect a cool I think. Ive used it for airboxes and the like and it holds up really well.
Id love to see what it looks like with the cobb downpipe. That might be a nice upgrade over the cobb unit.
I was def looking for function over looks. i heard the cobb one sucked and it rattled. i was hopeing this one would work better. dont really care how it looks. ill snap some shots once its installed.
yea, i'll second what arctic said. most aftermarket heatshields are just bling and dont actually shield much heat.
cutting the OEM heatshield to clear a bellmouth DP works better than any aftermarket heat shield.
either way you should also wrap your turbo while your at it: How to wrap your turbo - NASIOC this worked great for me and super cheap. you can split the package with a few buddies as theres enough for 4+ turbos in the $50 package.
the kit costs me $60 and there is more than enough to do 2 turbos. find a buddy and split the cost.
