so having troubles figuring out which directions to follow.

(neither pics are mine, just visual aid)

which is my PCV valve? im finding threads on both and from what i gather people are only changing one or the other not both. but i have both. should i be changing both? the silver fitting in the top pic connects with a hose to the bottom fitting in the bottom pic. 300,000+KM so i wanna put new ones on before in stall my catch cans.

i dont have anything taken off yet because i want to order the right parts and make sure i have them before i undertake this project. do i need to replace both pieces?

On my 06 the one under the throttle body was hollow but, I worked on an 05 once that the one under the throttle body had the valve in it that rattled when you shake it. Maybe it's something between the 2.0 vs 2.5???? I know mine had never been tampered with because I bought the car new. I think the one next to the turbo is just a pcv hose assembly. Flat irons tuning list a few different kits...

Hope this helps some.

thats what is really confusing me. ive read that all 02-05 PCV Valves are under the throttle body (like pic2) yet i clearly have an assembly like in pic#1 on my 02 wrx ej205. it looks a "wee" bit different, but it still there. all the threads i read swear that BOTH are valves. like 50 post arguments that both are valves and proof to support which (you know nasioc). top pic is apparently an 04 STI and bottom is a 02 WRX.

thanks for the links @boo-key, they'll help me describe what i need to the parts guy at the dealer.
