I have an 02 wrx. Currently freshly rebuild motor. fmic. greddy bov. arp head studs. full exhaust. looking for smartest way to make the most power with what im working with. was planning on jut doing vf39 turbo injectors in fuel pump. just looking for options or what other people think. Have only been in my wrx for maybe 6 months now so a little new to the subaru life but loving it so far! let me know what everyone thinks!
in VF39 and supporting mods for it will give a large boost over your current setup and might be all you need. dont try to do to much all at once, that how motors go pop. also you might find youself needing tires/brakes/suspension after you add a new turbo.
get yourself a good pro-tune afte the install and enjoy you car a for a few months and see where it needs inprovement next.
Do away with the Greddy BOV and put the stock timc and BPV back on and you'll be much happier. Go with a good set of tires before you buy any power mods.
Honestly your best bet will be to handle suspension first. "It doesnt matter how much horepower you have, the wall at the end of the strip has more power than you" - Dad quote.
I recommend handling your suspension first so that your not wasting power in body roll, bucking and soft bushings. For the money bushings and engine mounts/bracing will net you the largest performance gain, especially if you have a 15 year old car with original suspension parts/bushings.
I would start by swapping your suspension bushings across the board, add an engine pitch stop brace, engine mounts and trans mounts. If you have the cash I would also add diff mounts/bushings and performance struts/springs. When you have all that sorted out then you can go for more power.
Tires, tires, tires.....They are the direct contact to the road, what make your car stop and keep you connected to the pavement in corners....All the handling mods in the world don't mean squat without good tires....
Great tires tend to cover up some rather important suspensions problems.
Better do both : )
