BC, is there only one bolt on the uppipe ?? If not, take another off and go down to NAPA.... More than likely, they are all the same size......

if you're talking about the lower two bolts which hold the up pipe to the RH collector, anything will do. stainless is best because of the heat and corrosivity, and any fastener should be a grade 8 for strength, but as long as you get a matching bolt and nut you're good to go.

as far as idle vibrations if the gaps are very large you are very likely misfiring which will cause a shudder that may be felt through the chassis.

OK, replaced the bolt, regapped the plugs. Vibration still comes and goes, but it dosen't shut off as hard. We left for California on Friday. We are in Utah now, just South of Salt Lake City. We drove for 26 hours strait, only stopping to refuel (4 times). No problems except it's bogging down, but I think that's because the octane throughout the midwest is only 91 and it's used to running 93 octane. Anyways, we made it this far, so I think It'll be O.K. Thanks for everyone's help. Let u know how it goes from here.

i understand what dumdum said...but i think it's a 2.5 engine only problem. thus the 04-05 STIs would still be affected. unlike the 2.0 04-05s. at least people on nasioc have been saying that they found the screens in their 04-05 STIs also. Just thought, i'd try to see if i was right on that.
