NOS w/ UTEC?

can you run a 50 wet shot in the intake w/ a utec on your car. NOS says you cant use it if you have anything that advances timing on your car?? anybody know?

Umm.... where to begin?

I'd suggest doing a little more research on both products before purchasing either. Understand how and why each of them work, and then you'll have answered your own question.

But, the answer is yes, you can run N2O with a UTEC. The answer to your next question is no, you should not do it.

Hey cosmo. Just wondering what the downside of running NOS would be. I would seldomley ever use it, only if needed. not every pul or race . thanks for the info

It's dangerous, and it's illegal.

Well if you arent using it for every race then it is obviously not needed. Please dont get NOS. Ive personally seen two WRXs pop on the dyno using NOS. Do yourself a favor and get a turbo upgrade instead of the NOS.

nitrous as a power adder in and of itself, on a small 4 cylinder is just a bad idea. now if you are using it to spool one mother of a turbo, ok; but thats not what you are going to do. if it were a large displacement V* that could take a 200+ shot fine, but 50... c'mon

my feeling is that if you are going to loose a race with out the bottle and a stupid little 50shot, you are still going to loose the race with the same little 50 shot.

my dad has been running nitrous on his 7 sec. drag cars for 40 years.
i have had nitrous on my mitsubishi mirage for about 10 years now.
it is only illegal if you have a pressurized bottle hooked up in your car on a public road. don't hook up the bottle untill at the track. i know all of the county cops here in loudoun county. most have seen my nitrous system, and never had a problem because i don't carry a bottle.

the only time that i have had a problem is when the fuel pump for the nitrous system quit(seperet pump and tank). it was at the 1/8 mile light and the top of third. i lost the spark plug in cylinder 2, replaced it and drove home to find a blown head gasket on a car with 175,000 miles on it.

if a nitrous system is done right and used proporly i don't see any thing wrong with it. a wrx may be a different story. mine wont even pass emissions with exhaust upgrades and a hi flow cat. the thing has a mind of its own. it will never see nitrous.

In Virginia, it is illegal to have the plumbing for nitrous, whether there is a bottle or not. It has been that way since January 1 of this year.

Just get a nitrous system to purge next to ricers, but rarely use it.

... Talk about a waste of money that would be

i talked to a county boy yesterday and he said " It must be a full funcioning nitrous system in order to be a violation. No bottle no violation."

VDOT says differently. I'll see if I can find the actual code on their web site...

If you were a cop, would you read every single little law change that blew by your desk? I'm sure they have better things to worry about during their day. Don't blame them for not knowing.
