new engine for my 02 WRX, 04 EJ257 swap?

I'm looking into replacing my motor with a reman under the warrt I now have and my question is: what do i have to do to put a 04 STI motor in it? I realize it is probably not a direct swap. If to much needs to be swapped i will just put the EJ205 back in it. Any help would be great. I will not be doing this myself as it is warrt work. I will be getting a reman spartan as I am a parts guy at an auto parts store. The STI motor is cheaper by 550.00 but its covered in the warrt.
Thanks, Curt

Engine harness, if it doesn't come with the throttle body then you need to get a dbw throttle body as I don't think you can use a drive by cable system since you need the STI harness for the AVCS. Also need an STI ECU. If you have to convert to dbw then you also need to change out the foot pedals. Then you'll need to get the car tuned.

Basically it'll cost more than $550 to put that engine in.

Radiator/cooling may be a bit different as well

Thanks for the help, it looks like I'll just stay with the EJ205. I just thought since I had a choice I would look into it. Curt

Ya, that's why I'm running an STI longblock in my WRX without AVCS in my '02. But this can only be done if you're willing to thru a huge hassle.

Hybrids work well. They're not that difficult to do either if you still have good EJ205 heads.
