If you are staying stock turbo, forget the BOV. I ignored what everyone posted about how useless they are, bought one then got rid of it and went back to stock bov. It through my AF learning off when I ran a datalog

Your stock bpv is the best one for your 05 until you start getting up around 20psi. Spend your money on something else.

BLAZE2099 11-04-2013 05:26 AM

You can run a BOV, cars just gonna run like shit though.

brfatal 11-04-2013 07:22 AM

GFB = leak

BLAZE2099 11-04-2013 07:23 AM

Please don't take a perfectly running car and destroy it, just because you want people to know you drive a turbocharged car.
By letting them hear the pppssssshhhhhhhhh!!!

Scooban00b 11-04-2013 11:35 AM

I was gonna set it re75/25vta. Ive seen others say theirs at 50/50 the car ran just fine.

Why would a bov make a car 'run like shit' with stock turbo but not if it was modded with alot of boost?

Buy a kazoo and roll down your window. Give it a nice blow when you shift. Instead of people not knowing what to make of you, they'll be damn sure.

You can search this (and any other Subaru forum) and find pages an pages of people with valve problems...ESP the GFB's! No need to supply facts. The search box does that for us.

Correct me if I am wrong guys.
Maf expects a certain amount of air that should be there for the turbo.
when the BOV releases that extra air for just some noise.
The maf wont have that extra air to read and so it would kind of being in limp mode but worse.
Pretty much to have a BOV you need to have some good modding done as well as a ProTune not just and OTS map

pzr2874 11-04-2013 01:23 PM

Prob with all bov's is that they require maint. And most ppl just don't do it.

boo-key bear 11-04-2013 01:35 PM

^this is very true

psinuse 11-04-2013 02:40 PM

Okay OP you are running a MAF system which means the air that has entered the air intake system has been measured by the sensor. The ECU thinks there is X amount of air in the system and adds fuel based on boost pressure, temp, etc. You vent that air into the atmosphere then the ECU still thinks there is X amount of air when in reality there is less than X,
