Low-Level Modding

I have an auto 05' WRX. All i've put on it is an AEM short ram and a set of Avon tech tires.

I had a borla cat-back on but it was too loud for comfort. I wold appreciate hearing your suggestions for mods. The kind of mods im interested in are those that are relatively easy to get on and won't require constant maintance. I know the basics but im no tuner. Some things I'm considering are exhaust, possible chip/computer set up, any other small but effective mods. More interested in ease of use and function over cost and sound.

Thanks for the help!

Did you have the Borla hush exhaust? If you did thats about as quiet as it's going to get. If you didn't then I would get a Helix up pipe and down pipe with the Borla hush exhaust, that will give you a nice rumble when you get on it and be quiet when your not. Then I would get it tuned, I have Ecutek and love.

My turbo's fixed and a lot better =)

It wasn't a hush, it was just a borla straight through exhaust. It was nice in high revs but at idle it sounded almost like a lawn mower. Ill check out hush set ups. Thanks. Any other recomendations would be appreciated too

I'd suggest going back with another exhaust, atleast get an axle back, then some engine management. Most everyone likes what EM their using. I'm no different, but if your looking for simple engine management, its very tough to compete with the Accessports base maps. Just flashing to stage 1 with the AP, you'll appreciate what a little computer tuning can do. Add a drop in K&N filter to the OE air box, and the cat or axle back exhaust, and you'll enjoy it.

I'm sure some of the automatic guys could add to this post, there are some very potent mods to be done to the transmission and torque convertor, not sure if your looking to go that far, but thats something to think about. The guys running fast autos swear buy the their tranny mods.

Good luck

Trey
