Just got in an 02/03 jdm ej 205 complete swap with tranny ecu and all for a great price. I plan on installing this into my usdm 2002 wrx I have done swaps before but with an usdm ej205 before I start the process is this a direct plug and play or is there any other things I need to know before installing this swap since its a jdm version ej205 any help would be appreciated
Depends on what year the motor is...Pretty sure you can just put that motor in the car and get a tune and it should run fine. I know of at least 3 people that have done this and those were with AVCS and other than higher compression the tune wasn't difficult or much different than a stock one. If you want to take advantage of AVCS, which I don't think that motor has, you'd need to get the wiring harness from that unit or the one from IDA.
He said what year it was and yes both V7 and V8 EJ205s had AVCS. If you know 3 people who have run this setup just putting it in without anything but a tune then you know 3 people with oil leaks and cam sensor errors.
Yea thanks for all the info so I'll just get the avcs wiring kit from iA and get a tune. But I notice Ia performance has two kits one regular avcs wiring kit and a bulkhead. Which is the one I need the regular one.
uodated i was told if am using my usdm wiring harness i need to take the jdm engine harness and plug it in my usdm harness and just get the avcs bulk head wiring kit from ia performance. can any one help me on this i really dont understand
