Hey guys i just finally put in my GP MOTO intake silencer delete elbow in and i had a few questions. First do i need to reset my ECU after this mod? Second i realize there is some extra parts i wont need with the new part but i seem to have too many. Ok i have the old elbow milk jug thing, a screw and bolt that held jug in place and old parts that held elbow in place. I see where that came from but i also have a rather large bolt left and am not sure where this came from. When i put it all back together i refastened wheel liner, rebolted down airbox and fastened silencer delete elbow, and finally screwed in the ram air funnel thing. Does it sound like i missed anything? Last question. When i mounted the gp moto elbow i couldnt get the nuts %100 tight where is fastens to the inner fender wall. After attaching it to the airbox and scoop it seemed ok but was just wondering if anyone sees a problem down the line with this? I know its alot of questions but i want to make sure everything will be ok. Thanks for any input guys!
Sounds like a good install to me. I would be worried about the nuts not being tight and falling off. I can't remember what I did to get it tight, I may have added a few washers so the nut didn't have to thread on as far to be tight. The extra part would be no worry to me as long as everything is fastened tightly and is not going to move around. After I did the install I didn't reset the ECU. I have however heard of people reseting it, but I see no reason to.
So, I've been reading alot about the debate whether or not there are performance gains from this mod. Since I've done it Sunday, I believe there is, but marginal. I do notice a quicker spool up time, and I seem to have a barely noticeable increase in power... only because I'm in my daily routine and know my car's setup pretty well. But I do notice it. I seem to be able to accelerate to 70mph when merging on the interstate faster. I'm usually only like 65mph by the time I reach the end of the onramp, but this week I've been hitting 70 driving the way I usually do. I know it's not scientific proof, but I know I'm pretty consistant.
The only think that I can see why people aren't noticing it is either they haven't had the car long enough to get used to that setup, or didn't replace it with a delete elbow. I personally bought a Moto Delete Elbow, and the reason for me is logically, the small scoop in front brings in cold air, and faster than if it was just that hole in the airbox sitting near your hot components. With the silencer, the losses are probably about par because of the increased travel the air has to make in a car, and give it a little more time to heat up near your components.
I mean, that makes sense to me. Can anyone argue differently?

The exhaust gasses determine spool-up time. The intake has nothing to do with it. I understand that your "butt-dyno" may register more power, but those things aren't that accurate.....
