Intake or filter?

So I just read through about 8 posts about the K&N and Perrin Short ram intakes. Is it better to get one of these or just get a drop in K&N filter? I currently have a DP and I will have EM in 2 weeks and TBE by x-mas.

the K&N filter would be your best bet. Unless you want to drop about 210 for some extra noise.

i belive youve said it best cosmo, the sound registers very well with the butt dyno.

personally, i really like the ARC induction box. its pricy, but if you are going to spend $$$$ on something that does nothing, why not spend alot?!!!

i concur with cosmo. Intakes do squat, and the KnN will just let more dirt into your engine. I did some MAFv testing this weekend, and switched from a stock paper style, then logged a newly cleaned, UNoiled (which should flow even more than an oiled one) KnN. SAME EXACT MAF readings. Our maf is pretty sensitive too.

The bottom line is the amount of air the KnN flows over a paper style filter is so miniscule you gain NOTHING. However, i did run a KnN for the last 15K miles of my car, and i sent two samples of my oil into blackstone labs for testing and guess what? Above average (universal) amount of dirt. NO more KnN for me please !

I was going off of the fact that the filter was the cheaper of the 2.
