I need more power for 2.0

Alright heres the story. A Buddy of mine came to my place last night and he suprised me with his new ride. He got a wrx. It an 05 2.0 turbo. The only mod on it (cause he bought it used) was the previous owner put an espelir cat back exhaust.
Well here comes the problem the car looks really clean and very well taking care of. it has only 8K miles on it, but it just feels slow. It to me just dosnt have any getty up from a stop or anything lower then 3K rpms.
I have an 06 wrx with turbox's turbo back setup, and a pretty much stock 05sti. But Im not even comparing my bud's new car to those.
When I drive the car the power feels to me like my old integra gsr with catback exhaust. I just felt like the car didnt have the power it should.
Dose anyone have any tips as far as what to take a took at to look for problems. Or perhap thats just the way the 2.0 turbo feels and you could give me some helpfull moding tips.

unfortunatley with the 2.0 motor there will be lag, frum you driving your new 06 wrx and your 05 STi your used to the 2.5 block which has more power to spool the turbo...tell your buddy to free up his exhaust and go with cobb AP...that should definitley make his car feel fast for you

Yeah a good DP and a good tune will definitly free up alot of power.
Just for laughs try resetting the ECU then go for a hard drive.

Disconnect the negative battery wire and push the brake pedal for a few seconds. Then hook it back up.

Your friend needs some parts. EM would be a good start along with an downpipe and tune like stated above. The car will be a whole different animal after that.

My car is well, it's like 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag...

I would suggest a few things...

If you are a good driver, clock yourself doing 0-60 and 1/4 to see if the car is performing at the stock numbers for the 2.

Since you arent familiar with the 2.0 yourself, maybe you could find someone that lives near you that has one and let him take it for a quick spin. Do you have a boost gauge on the car?

Cobb stage 2 will wake up the 2.0, you will have to add a Dp. I would also do the uppipeat the same time. Then add a tune and 240+ whp is possible. He could also look into a VF39 and pinks(565) and get close to the 300 whp. All the part can be found used.
Here are some ideas
Cobb Ap $400-500
DP $100+
UP $75+
VF39 $200-300
Pinks $250-300
