How many cats are you runnin???

Right now 0, none, nada, ziltch!!!!

However today I've been thinking of selling my Godspeed catless DP & replacing it with a DP with a high flow cat.

What brought this up was some guy telling me about the $10,000 fine or 4 yrs. in jail.

When I put this stuff on I thought the worst that could happen is I would fail emissions.

So anyways back to my enitial question, how many cats are you runnin & why.

Talk me into or out of getting a high flow.

J.D.

1 high flow cat, under the car (from TXS TBE) so that the cops can look under there if they are concerned about and see that there is one there. I doubt there are many cops that know there is a cat in the uppipe, let alone how to check for it. and you can't really see the downpipe cat too well when pulled over on the road. That was my theory at least when I made my decision.

Currently all 3 cats still on, but when I get around to putting my new exhaust(Helix u/p, TXS d/p, TXS racepipe) on I will have 0 cats except for when I get emissions/inspection, but I don't think I need one for that either.

Umm... how? I thought the TXS downpipe replaced them both.

emission reading with no cats

OK so I took my car to a place where they can check my emission readings & this is what they are with no cats:

HC is at 180 PPM (pretty high)

CO is at .87 (probably OK)

So my question is, do I A. Keep the original DP & use it when I need it or B. Would it be better to get a two piece DP with a high cat in the mid section or C. get the Helix one piece down pipe with the built in high flow cat?? Link

Thoughts???

Regardless of whether it's a highflow cat in the downpipe, it's the placement that is the performance killer. The Cat in the downpipes is in most performance guru's opinion TOO close to the turbocharger, and thus puts massive restrictions on the exhaust system. (Hence the reason to remove restrictions in the first place). I live in Florida, where by the grace of the ignorant Jeb Bush, I no longer have to worry about emissions. However, I still have the third and final Cat in the stock exhaust system still in place. This allows me the comfort of knowing that I am at least SLIGHTLY environmentally conscience. Buy a "TRUE" down pipe, which only replaces the stock DOWNPIPE and leave the stock midpipe with it's small cat in there and then go and see what your emissions read.

I went with the Bosal Downpipe, but I believe there are two or three more.

I went with the Stromung downpipe; it fits perfectly with the third cat and is easy to install.

The turbo XS downpipe goes to either a race pipe or cat pipe from turboxs. I chose the catpipe just so I feel that I am legal. The Helix DP is like the Turbo XS downpipe plus catpipe/racepipe.

we all spend many hours a day convincing ourselves of things... right now i'm just trying to convince myself that i am going to rember where each harness plug and vaccum tube goes when i put my manifold/tgv housings/throttle body back in my car

i'll figure it out, although it may take me a few days...

UCLA, feeling legal is always nice... but don't fool yourself too much, otherwise you'll get to bold and piss off a cop... and he know's you're not legal.... i don't have to detail how that will turn out....

I'm always finding myself getting a bit bold, with collector's plates and all, echeck exempt... the cops peeve me off a bit and i'm always wanting to throw shit in their face... then i remember, it just takes one mean cop that wants to create a hassle for a guy in a shiny silver car that looks fast... .and my day will get very crappy very fast.... that's usually when i back off the throttle a bit.............. and i know your exhaust is louder than mine
