Honda addict converted to Subaru

I used to be an all motor honda fanatic but just recently purchased a WRX wagon. It as the baddest one at the dealership. Since I was into all motor, all the "up-pipe, down pipe" turbo stuff is sort of enw to me. I already hooked up a NX nitrous wet kit and now I wanna upgrade the exhaust.
-What are the parts to the exhaust system (al the pipes) and which one would you guys recommend?

-What kind of intake is good, i dont want the most expensive intake, just one that is pretty damn good.

-Will a front mount intercooler make more power that my stock mount. If not, whats a good upgrade for the stock intercooler.

-A good boost controller and how much PSI can the engine handle, remember my 50 Shot NX.

Any and all advice will be appreciated. THANKS. GO SUBARU...good bye honda...

Congrats on your car. Well this is what I will tell you from my own knowledge.

Upipe - Perrin

Downpipe - Perrin , Invidia

Exhaust - Greddy , Blitz , HKS

If you want a turboback which is better than a catback exhaust - TXS will be good

Boost Controller can be - MBC ( Manual Boost Controller ) EBC ( Eletronic Boost controller ) For a EBC I would suggest Blitz or Greddy. Both are the same from what I have heard.

Turbo Timer are also good from Blitz also.

The stock PSI is 13.5 for a wrx.

Intake well I heard the stock intake is good. But an K&N Drop in Filter is good.

Also a UTEC from Turbo XS is recommanded for a Wrx. You cant do everything on the stock ECU now. The Utec is like a Boost Controller too , because it controls everything. Its an upgraded ECU for you Wrx. You can make your own maps or download maps if you wish.

A Front Mount will do better than a STOCK intercooler. But if you have an upgraded top mount then it comes completley differet because the FMIC and the TMIC have advantages and disadvantages.

Hoped that help

Good luck

I would definately get a UTEC, especially since you're running N2O.

Gruppe-s makes a great uppipe for the money. It's what I run.

A FMIC won't give you much of an advantage with the stock turbo. It's best suited for use with larger turbos. Of course, with larger turbos you need upgraded fuel systems too

Sort of off topic, but what are the positives and negatives of a FMIC vs a TMIC?

TMIC -

pros
1. less lag because there is less distance for the air to travel from the turbo to the throttle body
2. much easier to install
3. keeps factory appearance of car
4. cheaper

cons
1. less cooling potential than a FMIC (but still plenty for most turbos, and much better than stock)
2. you'll probably need to get a STi hood scoop

FMIC-

pros
1. can handle most any turbo out there
2. looks really cool

cons
1. much more work to install
2. because of where it's mounted, it can get beaten up by rocks, bugs, birds, pedestrians, etc.
3. not all FMIC's are created equal - some of them require relocation of the battery, windshield washer bottle, coolant reservoir, etc., and some don't work as well as others - some require removal of the fog lights
4. they all require a short ram intake
5. they all require cutting to install, and either cutting your bumper beam or installing a JDM bumper beam
6. more expensive

Thanks, especially since I didn't know about the cutting thing. Now if I had say a IHI 23 or something with low(er) lag time, would it be a detriment to put in a FMIC?

Only real reason is I kinda like the reverse hood scoop idea. Though still not sure how it would look.

No you could use a TMIC. And I think the IHI 23 has more lag cause it creates more boost (or maybe its the 22). And the reverse scoop loox horrible IMO, heres a pic.

It acts like a cowl hood on a Mustang, it pulls the hot air from the Engine Bay. It creates a venturi-like suction and helps pull air from the engine bay.

I think the hood scoop is the WRX trademark and going with anything but the scoop is no good.
