Question Is the HKS Hi-Power+Downpipe good or should i get the Tanabe TBE?

Well i like the HKS' exhaust's look better than the Tanabe TBE, but it's noticeably smaller than the Tanabe. The Tanabe i can find for around $900. The HKS Hi-Power + Downpipe is technically a TBE, and only costs $750 total. But i have a bad feeling that the HKS one won't sound as nice as the Tanabe. The HKS is i beleive 75mm. The Tanabe Concept G Blue is a big 80mm Turbo-Back. Will it make that much of a performance difference, or should i just get the exhaust that looks better? Thanks

is the DP on the HKS the HKS DP? if so the I wouldnt buy it. You want a bell mouth or divorced down pipe.

totally agree, HKS DP not the best design, best is divorce type and second is bellmouth, HKS is neither.

Gotta be careful if you go with a divorce type dp... often, they don't work with aftermarket turbos. If you ever plan on upgrading your turbo, you might wanna look into a bellmouth dp now to avoid some future headaches.

Bellmouth FTW! The HKS exhaust mouth design is the same as the oem. Do not even waste your money with it.

+1 for the bellmouth design, its your best bet. The downpipe is the important part of the equation, the rest is just for looks and sound.

Tanabe Racing Development, USA

It's a Divorced Wastegate. Go down under wrx and view the video links (basically sound clips) and pics. It sounds kinds nuts from outside the car.

Yeah, i've heard the sound clips, that's why i want it, it sounds mean as ****....

So what companies make a bellmouth TBE? And will it make THAT big of a difference between the bellmouth and the divorced?

Cobb would be the most popular for a full tbe bellmouth. Just do some searching, you don't necessarily need to get the tbe as one unit. You can find a DP and CBE to mate up with each other, it's your choice.

Ugh, the COBB is hecka expensive... So is the bellmouth on the DP right? So it wouldn't matter what CBE i get? So i could get the COBB bellmouth DP, and then some other CBE?

TurboXS also makes a bellmouth DP, but not sure of the price off the top of my head. That is the one Im going with when the time comes.

yeah, i listened to some YouTube sound clips on that combo, and it sounds pretty nice.

Although i still really love the Tanabe's sound the best... But it's not bellmouthed...

Will the Tanabe's divorced type fit onto a 16G? because if/when i decide to upgrade turbos thats what ima do. But upgrading turbo/intercooler will be very last on my list...
