HKS hi power cat back

I have it on my 02 wrx. I have noticed that there is like a pre muffler or a cat or something in the middle of it. Just curious if anyone knows what it is? Thanks

so it must not be too important considering the fact that i've never seen it in any other exhaust?

Get some pictures and we can tell for sure. From what you are telling us, it sounds like a resonator.

How have you never seen a resonator? You've never looked at exhausts on cars then. A good majority of car exhausts have a resonator in the mid-pip or pre muffler pipe section.

I have an HKS Hi-Power Carbon-Ti cat back on my 07 WRX. It's not a catalytic converter. It's a resonator.

If it's a resonator, you do not want to remove it. It's job is to filter out unpleasant sounds. Borla makes two exhausts for the WRX. One has a resonator (hush) and one does not(single tip). I've had both on my car and the one without the resonator vibrated things inside my car at certain RPMs and was annoying on the highway.

The one with the resonator (Hush), is much better.
