HKS dpipe

I am going to order an HKS downpipe from Gruppe-S.com for $185, I get free shipping and it comes with a CEL fix-it kit. My only mods are a 5Zigen cat-back exhaust. Does the downpipe sound like a good idea? Thanks for the help.

I would say skip the HKS and save for a better one. The HKS still has a plate blocking the wastegate like the stock one. It's better than stock but not worth it IMO.

if you NEVER plan on upgrading your Turbo then it's a fine Downpipe, well worth the cheap money. HOWEVER, if you EVER want to go with a larger turbo down the road, then yeah, save your money and buy a quality downpipe, either bellmouth or divorced tube.

Ok, I ordered the HKS but they sent me a Helix downpipe instead. I only paid $185 for the HKS and the Helix costs $300. So I got a $300 downpipe for $185. I has a bellmouth and full 3" piping. I'm not very familiar with Helix, can anyone give me any information about them? Also, the bag that contained bolts and other hardware has a hole in it so there may be pieces missing. Can I use the stock hardware on the old downpipe? I'm putting it on tomorrow so quick responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

WOW, you got SUPER Lucky! The Helix Downpipe is a well made pipe, one that will easily support a larger turbo if you ever so desire.

I believe there should be no problem with using old bolts if you find yourself short. Just make sure you use the new Gaskets, if they were supplied.

Lucky!

Alright, I put it on but ran into some problems. The main one being the O2 sensor. It got completely stripped when it was taken out and will not be going back in the new downpipe. I put the cel fix in anyways and drove home with the O2 sensor hanging next to the downpipe. Luckily I didn't get a CEL. If I have the CEL fix-it in does the sensor have to be plugged into the downpipe or can I plug the hole until I get the money for a new O2 sensor? I know I sound like an idiot but any help would be great.
Thanks

You don't need to put it back in the hole. The whole point of the CEL fix is that it makes the computer think that everything is working like stock by adding theproper resistance to the circuit. Just get a pipe plug and wire tie the o2 sensor up.

My Downpipe Setup

I got the 3" ETS Stainless Steel Downpipe instead of the HKS and combined it with a GReddy SP-2 fully stainless exhaust from City-Speed This setup gave me an additional 32 HP at the wheels as proven on SportDynamics 4WD Dyno. The Downpipe cost me $230 from City-Speed.com and the GReddy SP-2 cost me $500. My setup is SOOOOO quiet and SOOOOOO POWERFUL. No CELs either.. YES!! A++ all the way! ETS has a much better throughput and CELs are FAR less likely even when running catless

Also on my ride, you'll notice the Silver 18" Drag DR-5's I got these for $1000 shipped also from City-Speed. They don't have them posted, but you can contact Ryan @ City-Speed and tell him that you want the same wheels he got Eric for his WRX. He'll hook you up.

Now I'm thinking about the Cobb Stage 2 Upgrade.. mmmm I CAN'T WAIT!!!

The hks is the best DP for the money! the quality is ok and it makes as much hp as all the others. some people say its not good, because if u get a bigger turbo u will get boost creep, thats not true at all, i have no boost creep and make darn good power for my set up. im thinking of buying a bellmouth just to put on and see if there is any difference but i doubt it, and if so very little. so if your on a budget like i am and want to get the most power for the money the HKS DP is perfect. just my 2 pesos
