Question Help for purchasing items for husbands birthday! 02 WRX hood ideas?

Hi everyone! My husband is the one I would ask this question but I am trying to surprise him, so any ideas would be very useful. My husband has a 2002 WRX that currently has a faded carbon fiber hood from the previous owner. He tried to restore it, but it didn't turn out how he wanted it to. Does anyone have any ideas for another (non carbon fiber) hood or if I can paint it at a body shop or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Have you taken it to a body shop yet to see if it can be "redone" or salvaged? Or maybe even call to see if a specific shop can salvage it.

Here is a start :

http://intensepower.com/aeex9.html <-- Many have been discontinued (Do Luck)

And another if you MUST have a CF one :

SEIBON :: SUBARU :: IMPREZA/WRX/STI

Does he have the original hood still ?

you could just have the CF painted, if thats not the route you want to go I would just find an original WRX hood

Thought when you painted the CF hoods, they chip WAY easy because of the flexibility

not if you use the proper paint additives, you basically use the same process for painting fiberglass or plastic body panels like bumper covers or corvettes

No problem Paul, I painted my CF hatch 2 years ago because I hate carbon fiber personally and aside from regular scratches around the handle the paint has held up fantastically with the flex additive. I just need to find a way now to fill the hole in it after I shave the lock cylinder.

Personally, if I were your husband, I would prefer the following:

Build EJ207 longblock
GT3076R turbo kit
Reversed intake manifold (preferable cosworth)
Reverse setup FMIC (would have to be custom)
PPG straight cut gear set
Carbonetic dual disk clutch and flywheel combo
TIC Spec Coilovers
Stop Tech BBK F/R
Work Emotion CR-Kai 17x9 et 42 5x100
Dunlop Star Spec Z1's - 255/35/17

He will be the happiest man alive, you may just have to sell a child to do it.

Otherwise, I'd also be happy with a paint-matching CF hood (bare CF is fugly IMO).

I spent 12k last april for all the labor and crap I did to my car last year and before that I think it was close 6k. So, roughly 18k. Some of it maintenace and just replacing tires and such. So, it wasn't all power adders.

I added it up a while ago came out to something like $56K for all the parts and labor I've ever had on the car not including initial purchase...but I will say It'll beat cars costing 3-4 times that so I consider it money well spent

Thank you all so much! I will look into all these awesome ideas, I do know he does not like the carbon fiber hood but he has something added to the engine where a stock hood wouldn't fit I think (or at least that's what he says).

pzr2874: He doesn't have the stock hood, just the carbon fiber one and hates it. He took off the carbon fiber wing that was on it already and is much happier with at least losing that.

But thank you all again!! It is greatly appreciated

Yeah, my initial purchase is not included and I'm far from done.
