HELP! Is my TMIC damaged?

Hey guys, being relatively new to turbocharged cars and aftermarket parts, I'm completely oblivious to whether or not I have a problem here. I recently purchased a turboXS tmic and it has been sitting in my garage awaiting the other upgrades to get here so I can throw everything on. I was looking at it today and noticed that there appears to be a predominant dent on one side of it near the mounting bracket. Is this normal, or do I have a problem? I want to nip this in the butt right now so that I can have everything ready for my install in the next couple of weeks. I attached a couple of pics for you guys to check out.

Well if you look at the fins smashed sideways in the dent, that's damaged but there will still be enough air flow that it won't matter too much.

Well, the problem I see now is that the bracket is shifted over because of the damage. I paid for a brand new TMIC and that's what I expected to get.I was sort of hoping that the TMIC was designed this way.ARGGGHH...not what I wanted to find.

You can fix this as long as the core's integrity isn't compromised. If you can, get some heavy duty pliers (lineman's pliers, I believe) and pull on the tab closest to the dent outwards. This should straighten the fins out. You still might have to tweak it a little for the tabs to line up for mounting the IC, but it should be ok. We run into this all of the time where I work and that's what we do to fix them.

Granted, the cores that we fix aren't as thick as that IC is, but the above mentioned method works pretty well.

My car is well, it's like 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag...

I tried what you said Stacy, and this thing is not budging. Hopefully the vendor can come up with some type of resolution for me as this is definitely not acceptable.

UPDATE: Managed to get ahold of Joey at world one performance and he said he would take care of it. Thank god! I was worried about this all night/morning.

World One is a pretty good company to deal with. My friend orders from them all the time.

I concur, kudos to them for taking care of their customers. Now if only all vendors shared that same mentality, the WRX world would be a better place
