header test validity

i know that the general consensus is that headers will hurt your overall perfromance unless you have the ability to rev your engine to well over 8K. however, i have to bring up this test that was posted on the board about a year ago.

http://www.speedstylesound.com/headers/

is this test valid? for a person looking to build a fun to drive highway car, headers look like a good way to go. and in drag racing you will be well above the "power loss zone" immidiatly after launch, so this whole loosing low end power argument doesnt seem valid.

thoughts / arguments / concernes?????

Looks like a good test to me. Presentation of the data was crap though. A chart with 700 different shades of blue lines all crossing over each other with a couple pale yellow ones thrown in makes a chart that is completely unreadable.

Sort of sad that the dyno guys didn't set up a duct of some kind to the intercooler to prevent heat soak that can throw off results substantially. Made it impossible to judge the afects of heat wrap on the headers.

WRX at 218 WHP (dynapack, aprx 275 BHP) and EVO at 375 WHP (Mustang dyno, aprx 510 BHP) on pump gas.

Don't waste your money unless you're willing to be the 'experiment.' Go with a proven path. It's safer, cheaper, and more reliable with proven HP numbers.

After more people have the 06s, I'm sure some will be tearing into it where soon enough, we'll hear about the answer. I try not to comment too much about the 06s anymore because no matter how reliable I think my source was, it never seems to be 100% correct, and there's not enough info out there to verify it.
