Gruppe-S Uppipe and CEL Fix

I finally had my Gruppe-S uppipe installed today, and it's about 1/4 too short to fit, causing a horrendous leak. The shop is trying to fix the problem with a few additional gaskets. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I know a bunch of you use the Gruppe-s, like Cosmo.

ALSO, I am, of course, getting a CEL and here in PA, we now have emissions inspection again. However they just hook up to the computer to make sure there's no problems. If I remove the EGT probe, seal the bung on the -uppipe, and install a 2.2K resistor, will it fool the emissions computer, too?

Lastly, on installing the resistor, just cut the probe off and wire in the resistor and that's it?

Thanks, guys. I appreciate it!

No...dont cut the egt wire. Just follow it back to the plug (it ends up under the plastic cover beside your airbox) unplug it and put it aside and plug the resistor directly into the plug. Just incase you ever need to put it back for some reason this will make it much easier on ya.

Ah, really? Well that would be more convenient, too. Good tip, thanks!
Should I make some sort of adapter plug or is the connection tight enough with the resistor wire to stay in place?

It's tight enough. Just run a couple pieces of electrical tape over it.

I live in PA as well and have a Helix uppipe thats ready to go on and I'm working on a Helix catless downpipe as well. As far as emmisions goes, I believe that they don't do a visual inspection on '96 and newer. From what I understand if you have the resister in it sends a false reading telling the ECU it is OK. I figure if it doesn't work, you have a month to take it back and get it retested for no charge.

Put it in place this weekend - simple enough process and seems to be working great! Thanks for the input.
