i love watching this project come alive. It is also like a game show... Grimm puts a box out and lets us guess whats inside. If we guess whats inside to we get a prize? (LOLOLOL)Keep up the posts and pics. It might get me motivated to start a project, but mine would be a lot slower!!!
hahah you know it!
the mystery box is an L&E quick ratio steering column for go kart like steering. i'm pretty pumped to try this part out. more info and to purchase can be found here.. http://column.landefabrication.com/
so one of the more annoying projects got done this week...getting the 05 WRX dash to fit into the L. there is alot of drilling new holes for brackets, sawzalling, swearing, etc to get it to fit right. i have to admit though...it all paid off because it looks awesome!! climate control in the race car FTW
i noticed that the gauge cluster is not from an 05'. Will that make a difference if your using and 05' ECU? I tryed to swap a gauge cluster out of my old car and the car would start and then die 2 seconds later. I had a cavalier though an tryed to put a Z24 gauge cluster in, but that didn't work.
That dash looks flawless man. Nice job. So looking forward to seeing the end product of this. I love that someone is so willing to keep updating and to even do such a task. Congratulations again.

thanks! i always enjoyed watching peoples build threads when they update it alot so i'm just trying to do the same for you guys.
so we had to cut some nasty holes in the firewall to get the wrx ac/heater core to fit so i figured now would be the time to put some shiny thermotec heatshield on to cover up the holes as much as possible and keep as much engine heat out of the cabin as possible.
some more awesome bushings that i got from L&E Fabrication..
steering rack. easiest bushing to put on the entire car. the rack was kinda a pita to get installed because of some rust issues.
SuperPro ALK bushings
definitely helped to have the press for these guys. make sure the center hole is towards the ground when installing.
Seems like everything is coming together nicely. Even when you hit a snag, you just use it as excuse to do something better to the car. Keep it up man.
I dont even know what to say, but good god this is will be so damn sweet, i cant wait to see it all done. are you going to put a stall convertor in this at all or anything like that while its easy to do???

haha ..thats a good way to feed the addiction of buying more parts. "oh, that doesnt work like i want it to better buy a bunch of aftermarket stuff to fix it".

Is this a full out race car or more of a shop project??
looks good either way though.
lol good question. its having an identity crisis right now. we have sponsors(BC Racing, TurnInConcepts, L&E Fabrication) so its going to be at alot of races. however, i'd like to be able to drive it on the street whenever i please. so right now its a shop/psuedo racecar.
