You are correct - On a stock car, a catback exhaust system would connect to the midpipe. If you buy an aftermarket downpipe, it usually will replace the factory downpipe and midpipe (The aftermarket ones are longer, unless you get a "shorty" downpipe)

This is what the evo-2 sounds like catless. It is much louder than stock, just not as loud as lets say a HKS or TXS exhaust.

thats a nice little pishhhu sound you got goin on there.

the evo2 aint as wicked sounding as other exhausts, but why attract the wrong attention and get a headache while driving on the freeway?

Fo' Sho'. I have the GReddy Evo on my Rex and it is great. With my straight-through exhaust profile, it has great tone, but I can still hear my new VF39 spin-n-scream...

I think the Evo2 sounds a little meaner on the ej205 2.0 or maybe <<<<< thast just me.

I even thought my wrx was louder than a HKS on a Sti so who knows.
