Im still rocking the stock turbo but planning ahead on something bigger. What would the spool up be like with a turbo that flows around 40 lbs/min on the Ej205? My idea is having the engine around 400hp and spool to start around 3000rpm and hit full around 4000rpm. List off some turbos that would fit that description. Im still unfamilier with the 16g, 18g, and 20g turbos which they seem popular and decent priced. Thanks everyone.
I love how forums make you explain yourself. I already built a 550whp 67mm SR20 about 5 years back. Ran high 10's @ 132-133mph, stock suspension, stock 5 speed with only drag radials. Coming from an inline four to the flat four, spool up is a bit different. The turbo i had on the SR before the 67mm was a GT2871R which was doing 400whp @ 21psi and hit full boost around 4200rpm. Im looking for something similar in spool up and flows around 40 lbs/min to get the engine to 400hp (not awhp).
The two suggestions are the 18g and 20g. What rpm will spool start and hit full compared to one another?
Not sure if you can see the pic really well, but here's a dyno chart of my 07 WRX with a 20G turbo and supporting mods (see my profile for mod details). The car made 365 whp/340 wtq which is probably about what you're looking for. Keep in mind that my car has a 2.5 L engine where yours has a 2.0 L, so the torque will probably be a bit different. The sweet spot for me is between 3,000-5,000 RPM (give or take).

I found what i needed to know over at Nasoic. They have a much more helpful group of people over there. Thank you Brfatal and Man Show, you two helped me out in the thread.
If you think that Nasioc is more helpful than this site...then maybe you belong over there. That place is full of flamers that will torch you for asking a simple question a majority of the time. Plus people on here just ask for more information to get a idea of what you know as a owner or what is on the car to know what were up against.
