i just changed my gear oil to royal purple gear max. but no it is harder to get it in to 1st and 2nd now when the car is not really warmed up. was never like that before i changed it. any suggestions?
well the royal purple is thicker then stock gear lube. i'm sure it will wear in when u get a few miles on the car. i really like royal purple for everything. that stuff is awesome
same here, Redline synthetics throughout and waterwetter in radiator. (water wetter works really well in water/air intercoolers too)
or a cheaper alternative is castrol syntrax
The problem with Royal Purple gear lube is that it's too slippery for the synchros to work properly, that's your problem. I'd recommend Valvoline dino GL-5 gear oil (75w90) in the tranny. You can pick this up from most local auto parts stores. Synthetics seem to accelerate wear in DSMs and Subarus with brass synchros.
