Front mount to big?

would putting a perrin FMIC onto a 2002 wrx that has no utec, or piggyback, or any type of EM of MBC cause a severe case of turbo lag?? my boost goes to 15.5psi then to 12 psi and back up to 15psi over an over from 3K to redline, in each gear. when WOT. all i know is its definitely noticable and slower now with the 1200 dollar FMIC on there. Suxs for me i guess.

Suggestions anyone?? im guessing utec time

Yes, i'd make it worse. Your stock turbo is probably having a hell of a time trying to keep up.

I noticed an improvment with my HyperFlow FMIC. I waited until I got everything I needed so I wouldn't have the problems you're going through. The Stock turbo is good maybe with a upgraded TMIC, but as far as a FMIC on the stock turbo, it's probably trying really hard to boost, therefore turbo effenciency is going down. I'm running full fuel, ecu, VF series turbo, HyperFlow FMIC, exhaust, boost, all that stuff, and I like the results.

ok thanks guys i guess ill try puttin the utec on an upping the boost. i broght it to the track today and that problem only happens in 4th and 5th gear, in WOT but at a lower rpm like 3-4K. once it goes above that it seems to have enough power to handle it. i ran 14.35 at 94.5 mph with a 1.89 60'.

I'd return it to stock IC until you get a turbo upgrade.

in the end it all depends on what you're doing with your car. If your car is for drag purposes, then you're launching on boost and lag isn't really something to worry a whole lot about. if your car is mainly a street car, you may want to find parts to lessen lag and give you more low end.

You can always have more PEAK power with a bigger IC core, and the FM serves that purpose. I personally NEVEr drag my car, and i could care less about peak HP numbers. It's all about area under the curve, getting the curve to it's peak ASAP and keeping it there for as long as possible. A TM serves all the purposes it needs to for my car, but everyone's goals and cars are different. A FMIC IS something you want to get tuned for, running generic maps with a FM doesn't work the best. Just for food for thought.

im running the perrin fmic on a stock turbo right now, and it runs way better than it used to, i also have an ap. Boost hits around the same rpm as stock tmic except it hits much harder than it used to. I would recommend some EM turn the boost up perhaps. My opinion is the stock tmic is garbage, ive been to turboxs too many times to see them have to spray and blow too much air on those little things to keep the air cool. Just get the right mods and you should have no problem, also get a bigger turbo! I just got my super 16 in! can't wait to throw it on
