Fp 68hta?

looking to do a turbo swap with all the supporting mods by the end of the summer so I'm doing all my research now and originally I thought EvoIII 16G, then 18G, but now I came across this little bugger it supposedly outperforms both!

Forced Performance Turbochargers: FP 68HTA Turbo for the Subaru STi/WRX

What do you all think?

Never heard of that specific turbo but according the that link it seems like it's a fairly big turbo. That link says that it is an 47lb/min turbo.

As a reference:

td05 18g: 40lb/min
td06 20g: 44lb/min
2.5R (polka pickle) 47lb/min

It sounds like it is a pretty big turbo for a 2.0.

I think the best thing you could do and call your tuner and ask him for advice and if he can tune that turbo. Parts are just parts unless your tuner knows what he's doing. He might know some info on that turbo and give you some advice on what parts go well with it.

The polka pickle is what I drool over for my EJ257. If this thing has that kind of flowrate, I don't think it would be that nice for an EJ205. Personally, I really can't stand lag.

That said, 47lb/min flowrate out of a 16G!?! They must really boost the thing up into the inefficiency range to milk that kind of airflow. This turbo may be more for those folks with race gas or additives.

I agree with Mosc on this one. What exactly do you want or looking to get out of your car is a good question?

i dont wanna gun for a hp # because I know it depends on wayyy too many things i know... just went stage 2 and it was aweome but now I crave more haha. My next step is suspension and wheels but I'm looking around now to get as much info as I can for when I decide to upgrade turbos... I just want to mop the floor with all the gti's in the area. I realize that sounds immature and whatever but I don't want to strive to reach a certain HP so I don't know how else to put it. Most towns seem to have a civic problem, mine definitely is a VW problem, and most are subaru haters so I'd just like to be able to shut them up... My goals may be putting me in the category of "should've just bought an sti" but I think its more respectable to have a WRX that can spank an sti.

There is a HUGE thread on NASIOC about this turbo:

That guy has meth who posted the dyno charts and he's comparing against stock pump gas stage 2 maps on a high reading dyno. Rediculously distorted picture of what that thing puts down.

It looks like an even larger 16G that's roughly equivalent to a TD06-18G except spools faster but can't hold boost as long.

I'm scheduled to tune a 68HTA tomorrow morning on a 2.0L wrx. So I'll post up the results and possibly a video. I expect it should do pretty well, spooling a little after 4000 rpms, and pulling hard up top.

I think when mike says "spool", he means full boost. People use the term differently.

Well this is the same exact car which was previously running a 16g turbo, and now running the 68HTA. Other mods: FMIC, Injectors, Pump, TBE, UPP, CAI. The 68hta outspooled and outpowered the standard 16g!!!

68HTA - 272whp, 253wtq (22.1 psi peak)

16G - 254whp, 237wtq (23.5 psi peak)
