Looks good to accompany what you already have. By the price tag on your DP it appears to be a catless option being considered (which I would say nay too) and your amount put away for a tune (guessing you're going open source pro tune) seems to be about half of what it should be. Someone quoted you that price?

Most open source pro tunes are gonna run between $400-$550. I'd just do a lot of review hunting and give yourself a good search radius. IMO no distance is too far for a 'real' pro tune. There's a good amount of wannabes out there...so beware!! It's def not worth saving $100 or so upfront just to sink it back in when your motor blows.

I wouldn't pay more than $350 for a street tune OS

Correct! Street tune should be around what Paul said. A dyno pro tune is where my figures came from. Sorry bout that...

Nice price, but I'd definitely check out NASIOC's review section. If he's not in there he's prob not worth trusting with your car lol!

If Josh from Import Image supports him, you're ok.

it's a good part to upgrade regardless. It will most likely help him create a more reliable tune.

It'll certainly help him with his tune, but that's usually a stage 2.5+ kinda mod. It's different to hear it requested for a simple stage 2 setup, but cheap enough and a mod you can technically do anytime. So if he's requesting a larger fuel pump just grab one online. It's just a little more "worth it" being there IMO when going stage 2.5+ and have more supporting mods like a fuel rail, larger injectors, bigger turbo, and upgraded TMIC. But that's why it's always important to talk to your tuner cause everyone does things differently. Very interested to see you start a build thread. Good luck OP

Anyone else have a Walbro for a stage 2 only? Just curious to its advantages with no supporting mods on a stage 2 setup.

If the OEM pumps of new are anything of old, an upgraded unit will not hurt.

You can upgrade to a Walbro 255 lph fuel pump any time (between stock and slightly beyond Stage 2) without being tuned speficically for it. When I had my Cobb Stage 2 map, I upgraded to a Walbro 255 along with a TXS TMIC and GS modified stock headers w/ a high flow crosspipe since I was preparing for a turbo upgrade and didn't want to do everything all at once for financial reasons.

I'm not sure what the failure rate is for fuel pumps and you don't hear about it very often, but it's possible that your tuner is recommending you upgrade it for the sake of not having to deal with fuel pump failure since your car is about ten years old now and it has however many miles on it. Fuel starvation would be devastating for your engine if anything were to happen to your stock pump. In the scheme of things, it's a relatively inexpensive safety measure... just a guess though.

He might also be secretly reeling you in since the step up to Stage 2 will be such a noticeable improvement that you'll be hooked in to the modding game and you'll want more power and the fuel pump will be one less thing you'll need to do down the road and odds are that you'll be so happy with his work that you'll come back for more.

Or maybe he's just selling you a part just to sell you a part like a sneaky car mechanic trying to make an extra couple of bucks!!!

You just can't know for sure
