I'm looking to upgrade my turbo and I'm not sure which one to go with. I've heard that the FP Red is pretty good for the money but takes a while to spool up. What is the fastest spooling turbo, cause lag is an issue for me.
You can blow the stock tranny on a completely stock car. But the FP Red is a beast of a turbo. As with any turbo you need to come up with a solid list of supporting mods also.
True, but the FP Red can put down 500WHP. I couple of hard pulls down the road with that kinda power on a stock WRX worn in tranny will blow the teeth out of every gear in no time depending on the driver. And EVOeater sounds a little to hasty to make a lot of quick power.
The red is not gonna give quick spool on 2.5, none the less on a 2.0. Biggest I'd go on a 2.0L is the 18G. If not, shop a round for a nice VF if you want fast spool (twinscrolls). When it comes to quick spool and huge turbos, you definitely cant have your cake and eat it too.
This is a no brainer,the stock one.The bigger the turbo,the more lag you get.You can't always have your cake and eat it too.That turbo is way to big for a 2.0L. Sounds like your just trying to build a dyno queen.
Fastest spooling turbo is your stock, of course. If you're looking for just a little more power, look at the VF39, VF43, or 16g. The spool will be slower for every size turbo you go up.
if you're REALLY serious about getting a fast spooling turbo... vf38. I wouldn't be surprised if it outspooled AND outflowed your stocker. But then again, you have to decide if a few rpms are worth that much money and fabrication. If not... p&p your td04 and everything else you can afford.
Anyone want to tell me what turbo for our subaru is about the same as a 20g on a dsm. I've seen the sizes and they look different. Maybe its just me but my big16g looks bigger and seems to out preform our 16g. maybe its all in my head, maybe not. anyone???
WTF They are all the same.20G is a 20G.That is the wheel.They are both made by Mitsubishi just different flanges.There are 3 different kinda of 16G'S
Small(regular)16g=510cfm
Big16G=550cfm
EvoIII16G=575cfm
Your Big16g is larger than a regular 16G.I don't understand why your stumped that your turbo is out performaning a normal 16G.
I loved my evo16g when I had it, very fast spooling compared to about a 14b, but the power and top end were amazing, I put well over 300 horses with it to the ground. I also did it on a stock sidemount on my DSM but I wouldnt recommand that at all.
